Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in extra innings to Missouri Western on Firday afternoon. With the loss SBU was eliminated from the MIAA tournament and their record drops to 32-21 on the season.
Missouri Western opened up the scoring in the top of the second inning when they scored on a doubled steal taking a 1-0 lead. Neither team would score until the bottom of the fourth inning when
Stormy Christerson and
Lauren Strobel opened the inning with back-to-back walks. After a MWSU error allowed
Dana Graves to reach the bases would be loaded with no outs.
Alexis Dock hit a sacrifice fly to left field to ties the game at one. The game would remain tied until the top of the eighth inning when MWSU scored three runs to take a 4-1 lead and would go on to win the game by that score.
The Bearcats won 30 games in a season for the first time since SBU became a member of the NCAA, and also won the most conference games in school history.
