Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in a hard fought battle against Central Missouri on Tuesday afternoon 9-7. With the loss the Bearcats fall to 28-15 (18-12 MIAA) on the season.

Central Missouri jumped on top early, scoring a run in the top of the first off of a pair of Bearcat errors. Three scoreless innings passed before UCM extended their lead to 5-0 with four runs in the top half of the fifth, but the Bearcats would respond in the bottom half of the inning. Clint Jack singled through the right side to open up the inning, followed two batters later by a Sean Murley walk. Hunter Hisky then doubled to right field, scoring Jack, as SBU trailed 5-1. After a UCM pitching change, Chance Wolfe doubled down the left field line, clearing the bases and bringing SBU within two at 5-3.

The Bearcats held the Mules scoreless in the top of the sixth before tying the game in the bottom half of the inning. Cody Massey drew a one out walk, followed by a single from Jack to put runners on the corners. Sneed hit an rbi single to center, followed two batters later with an rbi double to right field from Hisky to tie the game at 5-5. Against SBU held UCM scoreless in the seventh, and the Bearcats took their first lead of the game in the bottom half of the inning. Three Bearcats were hit in the inning, loading the bases, where Jack drew a walk to give SBU a 7-6 lead. However, UCM responded with four runs in the eighth, and despite a ninth inning solo homerun from Nelson Muniz, SBU would fall 9-7.

SBU will be back in action on Friday, April 28 when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney to open up a three game series with the Lopers. Opening pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. from Kearney, Nebraska.
