Pittsburg, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in the final game of a three-game series at Pittsburg State on Monday afternoon 10-2. With the loss the Bearcats fall to 28-14 (18-11 MIAA) on the season.
After a scoreless first inning opened up the contest, PSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Bearcats promptly responded with a run of their own in the top of the third to tie the game at 1-1. With one out in the inning
Caleb Sneed drew a walk, followed by a single to right field by
Chance Wolfe. After another out,
Sean Murley drew a walk to load the bases before
Nelson Muniz drew an rbi walk to tie the game at 1-1. Pittsburg State re-took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bearcats got one run back in the seventh. Back-to-back singles from Wolfe and
Hunter Hisky put two runners on to open up the inning. After a flyout advanced both runners, Muniz hit an rbi single to cut the deficit to 4-2. PSU would respond with six unanswered runs over the final two inning as the Bearcats fell 10-2.
SBU will return to action on Tuesday, April 25 when they host Central Missouri in the final game of a three-game series. Opening pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
