Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell 15-5 at UCM on Tuesday evening. Following the loss SBU drops to 27-12 (17-9 MIAA) on the season.
Caleb Sneed would open the game with a walk and
Hunter Hisky would single to shortstop giving SBU runners on the corners with only one out.
Sean Murley would single through the right side to put the Bearcats up 1-0.
Jovany Urbieta would single to load the bases with two outs,
Andrew Meier would double to left field scoring Hisky and Murley increasing the lead to 3-0.
Derek Galvin retired the Mules in order in the bottom half of the inning as SBU would lead 3-0 going to the second inning. UCM would score five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-3 lead. SBU would load the bases in the top of the third but failed to score. Over the next two innings Central Missouri would score five more runs increasing their lead to 10-3.
Murley would get hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning, and
Nelson Muniz would follow with an RBI double which cut the UCM lead to 10-4. The Mules would take a 15-4 lead as the game would go to the seventh inning. Muniz walked to open the inning for SBU,
Blake Hobbs then got a pinch hit double giving SBU runners on second and third with no outs. Meier singled to left scoring Muniz which made the score 15-5, however SBU would fail to add anymore runs and UCM would win the game.
SBU returns to action on Friday, April 21 as they travel to Pittsburg State to start a three game series with the Gorillas. First pitch is set for 6:00 pm from Pittsburg, Ks.
