Maryville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's tennis team fell at #18 Northwest Missouri on Saturday 5-4. With the loss SBU drops to 9-2 (3-1 MIAA) on the season.
Southwest Baptist jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles play as
Sherif Abohabaga/
Chris Blodig picked up the point at #1 doubles and
Torben Semrau/
Raul Cabalero earned the point at #3 doubles. Abohabaga continued his strong season by winning at #1 singles in straight sets, while Cabalero used a three-set victory to earn the point at #4 singles. However, it wasn't enough as Southwest Baptist would fall 5-4.
SBU will return to action on Thursday, March 7 when they host Nebraska-Kearney. Play is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from the
John Bryant Tennis Complex in Bolivar.
