Bolivar, Mo.- The Southwest Baptist University Softball team will step out of MIAA play on Wednesday, March 22 when they travel to Rockhurst University. The Bearcats will continue MIAA play this weekend when the host Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State. SBU comes into the contest against Rockhurst with a 16-6 (1-1 MIAA) record on the season and are coming off of a doubleheader sweep of William Jewell.
Scouting the Bearcats
Offensively the Bearcats have five players who are hitting above .333 on the season, leading the way is
Jaidyn Mawhinney who is hitting .419 on the year. SBU also has four players with double digit RBI's on the season,
Stormy Christerson is pacing SBU with 14 RBI's. In the circle SBU is lead by
Kacey Ayers-Evans who is 10-2 on the season and has an ERA of 1.50, Ayers-Evans is also coming off of her 4th complete game shutout of the season.
Scouting the Hawks
On offense for Rockhurst Taylor Rupe leads the Hawks with a .362 batting average on the season. Lauren Marks leads Rockhurst with 20 RBI's on the season. In the circle Bridgette Sappington who has a 1.88 ERA on the season and is currently 8-3.
Scouting the Lopers
Offensively UNK is led by Macey Nelson who is hitting .317 on the year and is 2nd on the team in RBI's with 8. In the circle for the Lopers Meg Householder has started 13 games and has a 1-10 record for the season.
Scouting the Tigers
Veronica Knittig leads the Tigers in average where she is hitting .387 and also leads the team in RBI's with 17. Hailey Chapman and Carrie Clark have each started at least 15 games and each have an ERA under 5.00 on the season.
