Warrensburg, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University softball team split a pair of games at Central Missouri on Firday afternoon. SBU is now 14-6 (1-1 MIAA) on the season.
In game one SBU would get the scoring started in in the 1
st inning as
Catlin Evans would get thing started with a bunt single and a steal of 2
nd base.
Megan Schellert would follow with a walk, and
Dana Graves would bring Evans in with an RBI double.
Stormy Christerson would get an RBI on a fielder's choice, and
Lauren Strobel would make the game 3-0 with an RBI single.
Kori Hillenburg would start the 2
nd with a single and would come around to score on a RBI groundout from Schellert. In the top of the 3
rd Strobel would walk and then
Darien Robinson would hit a 2-run homer to center filed giving SBU a 6-0 lead.
Alexis Dock would follow with a single and would wind up scoring on a wild pitch giving SBU a 7-0 lead.
Jaidyn Mawhinney would get a one out base hit in the top of the 5
th inning, and then following a UCM error Evans would reach.
Dana Graves drove in Mawhinney with an RBI single giving SBU an 8-0 lead.
Kacey Ayers-Evans would retire UCM in the bottom of the 5
th and SBU would win 8-0. Ayers-Evans tossed a complete game and improved her record to 9-2 on the season.
In game two
Claire Miller would start out strong not allowing any runs over her first three innings pitched. UCM would get 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and would take a 5-0 lead. UCM would score 3 more runs in the 5th and would win the game 8-0.
On the day SBU was led offensively
Dana Graves and
Darien Robinson who each had 2 RBI's. In the circle
Kacey Ayers-Evans threw a complete game in game one.
SBU will return to action Wednesday, March 15th when they host William Jewell for a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m. from Bolivar, Mo.
