Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell to Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon 13-7. With the loss SBU drops to 7-3 (0-2 MIAA) on the season.
After a scoreless first inning the Bronchos struck first in the top of the second, taking a 6-0 lead and tacking on one more in the third as SBU trailed 7-0. In the bottom of the third, the Bearcats loaded the bases on three walks before
Hunter Hisky hit a sacrifice fly to put the Bearcats on the scoreboard. SBU added another run on a UCO error, as the Bearcats trailed 6-2 heading into the fourth. The Bronchos would add five more in the fifth as SBU trailed 11-1 heading into the bottom half of the inning.
Sean Murley led the fifth off with a single, stole second, and came home on an rbi double from
Jovany Urbieta. In the sixth
Cody Massey led the inning off with a single and would eventually come home on an rbi single from
Chance Wolfe as the Bearcats trailed 11-3. UCO added two more runs in the seventh, but the Bearcats continued to try and chip away at the lead. SBU loaded the bases on an
Andrew Meier single, Massey walk, and
Caleb Sneed walk before Wolfe hit another rbi single. SBU would add two more in the eighth, scoring on a wild pitch and an rbi single from Massey, but it wouldn't be enough as the Bearcats fell 13-7.
SBU will be back in action on Sunday, February 26th when they host Central Oklahoma in the final game of the three-game series. Opening pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
