SBU Men Return Home on Thursday for Final Homestand of the Season

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home on Thursday for the first of their final two home games of the regular season.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Mark Johnson begins his 16th season as the head coach at Fort Hays State. Johnson holds a career coaching record of 304-138, and ranks among the top 20 in active NCAA Division II men's basketball coaches in winning percentage.

Fort Hays State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 10-9. The Bearcats claimed a 56-54 victory over Fort Hays State earlier this season in Hays.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game against Fort Hays 14-12 (7-10 MIAA) and are coming off of a 65-53 loss at Washburn. SBU is led in scoring by Logan Hovey who is averaging 12.6 ppg, while Brian Patterson averages 10.0 ppg and a team high 5.3 rpg. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with 9 players averaging over five points a piece. SBU shoots 46.6% from the field, 36.3% from beyond the arc, 67.7% from the line, and average 71.7 ppg.

Scouting the Tigers
Fort Hays State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 16-10 (10-8 MIAA) on the season. The Tigers are coming off of a 101-88 home loss to Nebraska-Kearney. FHSU is led in scoring by Rob Davis who averages an MIAA leading 22.2 ppg. Hadley Gillum is also in double figures at 13.1 ppg to go along with 6.3 rpg, while JaQuan Smith pulls down a team high 6.5 rpg. As a team FHSU shoots 47.0% from the field, 40.0% from beyond the arc, 69.8% from the line, and average 75.2 ppg.
