SBU to Take on 2nd Straight Ranked Opponent at #13 Emporia State on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will hit the road on Thursday to take on #13 Emporia State. Three of the Bearcats' last four opponents have been ranked in the top #15 of the WBCA Coaches Poll.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer is in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.

Jory Collins begins his 6th season as the head coach at Emporia State. Collins holds a career coaching record of 153-42 and has advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 each of the past four seasons.

Emporia State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 38-12. The Lady Hornets claimed an 84-77 victory over the Bearcats earlier this season in Bolivar.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats enter the game against Emporia State 14-10 (6-9 MIAA) and are coming off of a 69-63 loss to #10 Pittsburg State. SBU is led in scoring by Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 17.0 ppg while Caylee Richardson averages 11.3 ppg, and a team high 7.3 rpg. Alex Botkin dishes out a team high 3.0 apg, while Aliyah Isaac averages 8.5 ppg and Mackenzie Skupa averages 8.1 ppg. As a team SBU shoots 46.7% from the field, 31.6% from beyond the arc, 74.2% from the line, and average 72.5 ppg.

Scouting the Lady Hornets
Emporia State enters the game against Southwest Baptist 21-4 (12-4 MIAA) on the season, and are currently ranked #13 in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll. The Lady Hornets are coming off of a 73-61 victory at Washburn. Emporia State is led in scoring and assists by Kelly Moten who averages 18.4 ppg and 4.3 apg. Addie Lackey averages 13.0 ppg, Kyrstie Miller 10.4 ppg, and Kathryn Flott averages 8.8 ppg and 9.9 rpg. As a team ESU shoots 43.8% from the field, 36.7% from beyond the arc, and average 79.5 ppg.
