Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will hit the road on Thursday to take on Emporia State in their final road series of the regular season.
The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Shaun Vandiver begins his 6th season as the head coach at Emporia State. The former NBA First Round Draft Pick holds a career coaching record of 65-77.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Emporia State 29-21. The Bearcats picked up a 84-62 victory over ESU earlier this season in Bolivar.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game at Emporia State 14-10 (7-8 MIAA) and are coming off of a 61-54 victory over Pittsburg State. SBU is led in scoring by
Logan Hovey who is averaging 12.6 ppg, while
Brian Patterson averages 10.5 ppg and a team high 5.4 rpg. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with 10 players averaging over five points a piece. SBU shoots 47.3% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc, 68.2% from the line, and average 72.6 ppg.

Emporia State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 12-13 (8-8 MIAA) and are coming off of a 90-63 loss at Washburn. Emporia State is led in scoring by Brandon Hall, who averages 13.5 pp, 4.2 apg, and is the only Hornet to average double-figures. Garin Vandiver averages 8.9 ppg and a team high 5.2 rpg, while Josh Pedersen averages 8.8 ppg. As a team ESU is shooting 43.8% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc, and is averaging 73.5 ppg.
