Wichita Falls, Tx. – The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in two games in the middle day of the MSU Round Robin. SBU fell 7-6 against Southwestern Oklahoma State before dropping a 10-3 decision to host Midwestern State. At the conclusion of the day the Bearcats stand at 1-2 on the season.
In the 7-6 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State, SBU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2
nd inning when
Kori Hillenburg drew a bases loaded walk. SWOSU would answer in the 3
rd inning where they scored 4 runs to take a 4-1 lead. The SBU third inning would start with a
Jaidyn Mawhinney single and a
Lauren Strobel walk. SWOSU would get a double play, but then SBU would get an RBI single from
Megan Schellert followed by an RBI single from
Kaley Hansen to cut the SWOSU lead to 4-3.
SBU would tie the game in the 4
th on an RBI groundout from Strobel, but SWOSU would add a pair of runs in the top of the 5
th to regain the lead 6-4. In the bottom of the sixth the Bearcats would capitalize on 2 Bulldog errors and tie the game at 6 heading into the 7
th inning. SWOSU would take the lead on a solo homerun and would win the game 7-6.
In the second game SBU would score 2 runs in the 3
rd inning on an RBI single from
Stormy Christerson plus a Midwestern State error, and would add a run in the 6
th when
Catlin Evans was hit by a pitch. Midwestern State would go on to win the game 10-3.
SBU will return to action Sunday, February 12 as they wrap up their play in the Midwestern State Round Robin. SBU will play Colorado School of the Mines at 12:00PM and Midwestern State at 2:30PM.
