Arkadelphia, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team opened up their 2017 season with two victories on Friday. The Bearcats took down #44 Tarleton State 5-4 before defeating Delta State 5-0.

In SBU's win over TSU Lara Soares and Lani Tuemmers picked up the lone doubles point by winning number one doubles. SBU then took four of the six singles matches, with Soares, Tuemmers, Lucia Diaz, and Klara Vickov all picking up singles wins. In their match against Delta State, the Bearcats swept all three doubles positions before winning by default at #6 singles and Sarah Brown picking up a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #5 singles to seal the victory.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, February 11 when they are set to take on Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State.
