Wichita Falls, Tex. – Kacey Ayers threw a complete game shutout in SBU's 2-0 win over Newman University on Friday evening.
Over the first three innings of the game neither team would be able to score a run, however SBU would get base runners in all three innings but would not be able to capitalize.
In the bottom of the 4
th inning,
Lauren Strobel would double to left field, and then
Dana Graves would follow with an RBI double down the left field line giving SBU a 1-0 lead.
Megan Schellert would drive Graves in with an RBI single up the middle to give SBU a 2-0 lead. Ayers shut down Newman for the remainder of the contest as the Bearcats picked up the 2-0 victory.
Kacey Ayers would go the distance allowing six hits, but would also strike out six over her 6.0 innings pitched.
SBU will return to action tomorrow as they continue playing in the Midwestern State Round Robin. The Bearcats will be taking on Southwestern Oklahoma State and Midwestern State with the first pitch of game one is set for 5:00 p.m. from Wichita Falls, Texas.
