12/9/2017 7:59:00 PM

Box Score Tahlequah, Okla. - Career days from Darnell Latham Jr. and Damian Prgomet along with spectacular shooting from all three areas brought the Southwest Baptist Men's Basketball Team a dominating conference road win over Northeastern State Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Bearcats record to 5-4 (1-1 MIAA) and drops Northeastern State's record to 3-7 (0-4 MIAA).

Darnell Latham Jr., a freshman from Chicago, Illinois, scored a career high 18 points on 83% (5-6) from the floor and a perfect 7 of 7 at the line. Damian Prgomet, a redshirt sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, was a beast inside as he posted his first career double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The 11 points and 13 rebounds were both single game career highs as well. It was an all around balanced scoring affair as SBU had three other players all reach double figure scoring marks. Cartier Dean poured in 15 points while Kai Woodfall and Marlon Alcindor added 12 and 10, respectively. For the afternoon, SBU shot a white hot 65.9% (27-41) from the field, 52.6% (10-19) from downtown, and 73.7% (28-38) on free throws. The 52.6% shooting from three raises SBU's conference leading mark to 47.6%. SBU also outscored NSU in the paint (32-10) and had the advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Riverhawks 41-21.

Northeastern State got out to an early 14-5 lead in the first five minutes from of action. However, a dunk from Prgomet got the Bearcats rolling. The dunk ignited the Bearcats to go on a 22-3 surge from that point, making the score 27-17 in favor of SBU. The amazing run was capped off by a three from Dean. SBU kept pouring it on as they stretched their advantage to 38-25 on a Matt Ridder three with 4:45 left in the first half. The Riverhawks did not even get within single digits the rest of the way, allowing SBU to take an even greater lead of 48-30 into the locker room.

In the second half, the Bearcats expanded their lead over 20, 53-32 on a traditional three point play from Chris Rossow at the 17:51 mark. Another bucket plus a free throw from Latham Jr. this time gave SBU a 65-39 advantage with 13:30 left. SBU kept their foot on the gas with Alcindor knocking down a triple to make the lead 77-46 with under 10 minutes to go. SBU went on auto pilot from there by hitting their free throws and ultimately came away with 92-69 win.

Southwest Baptist takes the floor again on Saturday, December 16th when they host a team receiving votes in the national poll, Central Missouri (7-1, 0-0 MIAA). Tip is set for 3:30 PM from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar, Missouri.
