12/7/2017 8:22:00 PM

Box Score Edmond, Okla. - In their first MIAA conference matchup, the Southwest Baptist Women's Basketball team fell on the road to #25 Central Oklahoma, 85-68. The loss is only the second of the year for the Bearcats, bringing their record to 7-2 (0-1 MIAA). Central Oklahoma improves their record to 8-1 (3-1 MIAA).

In the first half, Central Oklahoma got off to fast start with a early 12-1 lead. The Bronchos extended their out to 19-2 with 4:17 left in the 1st quarter before Laura Vierkant nailed a three to make it 19-5. The Bearcats trimmed the Bronchos lead to 24-11 on a Ray'Shionne Smith three to close the quarter. To begin the 2nd quarter, Monique Manuel followed up Smith's three with a bucket of her own to bring the Bronchos advantage down to 11. However, a 18-6 run by UCO over the next five minutes of game action stretched UCO's lead out to 23. The Bearcats were able to get the lead under 20 to end the half but were still down 48-29.

Shortly into the 3rd quarter, the Bearcats trimmed the UCO lead to 54-39 on a Taliayah Wilson jumper. Two quick baskets though from the Bronchos pushed the lead back out to twenty points. For the rest of the quarter, the Bronchos and Bearcats played even until a three point play from Smith reduced the UCO lead to 67-52 heading to the 4th quarter. Early into the fourth quarter, a Megan Rosenbohm layup made the score 69-57. This was as close as the Bearcats would come to threatening UCO the rest of the game before falling 85-68.

Rosenbohm had a game-high 21 points and 3 steals on 41.2% shooting (7-17). The 21 points marked the eighth 20+ point effort for Rosenbohm this season. Rosenbohm also was the leading rebounder for the Bearcats with 6. Smith scored 15 points to go along with 6 assists and 4 rebounds, and Caylee Richardson added 11. For the night, the Bearcats shot 36.9% from the field, 17.4% from deep, and 66.7% at the line.

Southwest Baptist now has a day off before they travel to challenge another MIAA foe, Northeastern State, on Saturday afternoon. Tip is scheduled for 1:30 PM from Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
