Women's Basketball Hits the Road Saturday to Take On Rogers State

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team will hit the road Saturday when they travel to Rogers, Arkansas to take on Heartland Conference member, Rogers State.

Previewing the Bearcats
The Bearcats are 6-1 on the season and are coming off a 2-1 week. Two of those games the Bearcats traveled to Miami Shores to participate in the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic where they went 1-1. Over their first seven games, the Bearcats are averaging 86.9 ppg while shooting 84.0% as a team from the line. The 92.2 ppg ranks 7th in the entire NCAA and the 86.3% free throw percentage ranks 3rd in the nation. Megan Rosenbohm and Caylee Richardson are the two Bearcat standouts. Rosenbohm is the 9th best scorer in the NCAA with 23.0 ppg. She also collects 5.6 rpg, 3.3 apg, and 2.9 spg. Caylee Richardson averages a near double double with 18.1 ppg and 9.3 rpg. She also shoots a blazing 63.2% from the field and 93.8% at the line.

Previewing the Hillcats
Rogers State comes into Saturday's matchup against Southwest Baptist with a record of 3-4. On Thursday, they dropped their first conference game of the season against UA Fort Smith by a score of 72-58. The Hillcats feature two players players that average double figure socring. Lauren Schuldt is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 15.2 ppg and 6.7 rpg. Darian Jackson is right behind her with 11.1 ppg and 6.6 rpg. For the season, Rogers State scores 65.9 ppg on 38.5% shooting from the floor and 33.9% from beyond the arc.

Head Coaches
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer is in her fourth season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU back to the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City for the first time in three years. Coach Keizer and the Bearcats are coming off back-to-back winning seasons (16-14, 7-12 MIAA last year), which has not been done since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 49-46 and a 22-38 mark in the MIAA.

Bobby Cope begins his fourth season behind the bench of the Rogers State women's basketball team after taking over head coaching duties in March 2014. In his previous three seasons, Cope has compiled a 30-50 overall record. 

All-Time Series
This will be the second ever meeting between the Bearcats and Hillcats. The first matchup came last season in Bolivar, Missouri where SBU defeated Rogers State by a score of 78-51.
