Box Score Miami Shores, FL. - It took overtime for the Bearcats to be handed their first loss on the season. Barry University knocked off Southwest Baptist 83-76 in the extra period. The Bearcats now boast a 5-1 mark on the year.

The first quarter saw the Bearcats saw the Bearcats take a 15-11 lead. Back-to-back layups from Caylee Richardson gave the Bearcats the 15-11 advantage headed into the second quarter. With 5:30 to go in the second quarter, the Bearcats had expanded their lead to 8 on a layup and free throw from Richardson once again. Barry responded though by outscoring the Bearcats 10-4 the rest of the quarter and bring the Bearcat lead to only 2 going into halftime.

To begin the third quarter, Morgan Henderson completed a three point play to give the Bearcats an early 5 point lead. A jumper from Megan Rosenbohm pushed SBU's lead to 6 with 8:06 left. However, over the next five minutes of action, Barry went on a 16-2 run to give themselves a 45-37 lead. They would take a 50-45 lead headed into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Bearcats would retake the lead 58-56 on a layup from Rosenbohm with 5:00 to go in the game. The last three minutes of the contest saw Barry and Southwest Baptist go back-and-forth with 3 ties and 4 lead changes. The last lead change coming with 1:48 left to give Barry a one point advantage. A Rosenbohm jumper with 33 seconds left cut the Barry lead to just one, 67-66. After two good free throws by Barry with 10 seconds left to give Barry a three point lead 69-66, the Bearcats called time to advance the ball and setup a play. On the ensuing play, Rosenbohm was fouled on a three point attempt. She sunk all three free throws to send the game into overtime tied at 69.

In the overtime period, it was all Barry. They scored 12 of the first 14 points that put the game out of reach for the Bearcats. Southwest Baptist would end up losing their first game of the season by a final score of 83-76.   

Caylee Richardson came up a point short of a her career high tonight as she poured in a game high 25 points on 61.1% (11-18) shooting. Megan Rosenbohm added 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Morgan Henderson was the other Bearcat in double figures as she scored 10 points, collected 6 rebounds and assisted on 3 baskets. For the game, the Bearcats shot 39.4% (28-71) from the field, 26.3% (5-19) from downtown, and 88.2% (15-17) from the line while turning Barry over 21 times. Barry did out rebound the Bearcats in the game 47 to 33.    

Southwest Baptist has a quick turnaround as they will face Palm Beach Atlantic University tomorrow in Miami Shores. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. central time.
