11/20/2017 9:14:00 PM

Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist men's basketball team ended a three game skid in great fashion Monday night with a 109-75 victory over Williams Baptist.  The Bearcats are now 2-3 on the year.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 10-7 lead early on a layup by Logan Hovey. However, Williams Baptist would come right back with a 13-5 run that was finished off by a traditional three point play by Briheam Anthony. The Bearcats then went to work as Kai Woodfall came off the bench to spark the Bearcats. He hit two threes in a minute to tie the game at 23 with 10:17 to go in the first half.  Hovey followed Woodfall's three with a three of his own to put Southwest Baptist ahead 26-23, a lead they would never relinquish. The Eagles would not go away quietly as they continued to hang around and cut the Bearcat lead to three with 2:29 to go. From 2:29 to the end of the first half, the Bearcats exploded for 13-2 run that ended with back-to-back threes from Cartier Dean and Hovey. This run gave the Bearcats a 55-41 lead headed into the break.

In the second half, Southwest Baptist picked up right where it left off. Once again, Hovey led the way as he scored 12 of the Bearcats first 16 points coming out of the locker room. In the first ten minutes of the half, the Bearcats outscored the Eagles 31-11 to stretch their lead to 34, which put the game out of reach. The huge run was finished off with back-to-back threes from Matt Ridder and a jumper from Karim Mouliom. With 7:26 to go, the Bearcats hit the century mark on a three from Andy Campbell. The Bearcats would then cruise the rest of the way to 109-75 win.

Logan Hovey dominated the game and went for a career high 31 points on 11-13 (84.6%) shooting from the floor in only 20 minutes of action.  He added five rebounds and two assists as well. Cartier Dean followed up his excellent performance against Jewell with another good one tonight. Dean had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in only 19 minutes. Kai Woodfall nailed 5 out of 7 threes off the bench, and Matt Ridder and Andy Campbell hit 3 threes a piece as well to lead the Bearcat barrage from beyond the arc. As a team, the Bearcats shot 56.3% (40-71) from the floor, 51.4% (18-35) from deep, and 78.6% (11-14) from the line on the night. They turned Williams Baptist over 17 times and limited them to 44.1% (26-59) from the field.

The Southwest Baptist men's basketball team will return home Saturday, November 25th against Hannibal-Lagrange College. Tip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar, Missouri.
