Henderson and Richardson Post Double-Double's in 83-73 Victory over Ouachita Baptist

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team spread the scoring around, with four different Bearcats in double-figures, in an 83-73 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday evening. With the win the Bearcats improve to 2-0 on the young season.

The Bearcats fell behind early to start the contest, as OBU lead 8-0 with 7:46 to go in the opening quarter. After trailing 10-2 with 5:37 left in the first quarter, SBU used a 6-0 run with buckets from Morgan Henderson and Sydney Bandy to cut the deficit down to two at 10-8. The Bearcats and the Tigers held steady, with SBU trailing 18-16 with 42 seconds left in the quarter, but OBU used a 5-0 run to close out the quarter as SBU trailed 23-16.

After trailing 25-18, the Bearcats used a 12-2 run to take their first lead of the game with 6:11 remaining in the half. Megan Rosenbohm accounted for 7 of the Bearcats 12 points during the run, but OBU responded to re-take the lead at 34-33 with 4:08 to go in the quarter. The lead would change three times over the next couple of minutes, and a buzzer beater three from Madison Strong pulled SBU back within two as they trailed 42-40 heading into the half.

SBU opened up the second half with a jumper from Caylee Richardson to tie the game at 42-42, but the Tigers again answered with a small 5-0 run to re-take the lead with 8:54 left in the third quarter. However, the Bearcats responded by re-taking the lead for good only two minutes later. SBU used a 12-0 run to push their lead up 7 (54-47), and a layup from Rosenbohm with 2:41 remaining in the quarter gave SBU their first double-digit lead of the game at 62-52. OBU cut the lead down to seven at 62-55 as play entered the fourth quarter.

The Bearcats opened the quarter with an 8-0 run to push their lead to 15 (70-55), and a three from Strong with 2:36 remaining gave SBU their largest lead of the game at 18 (81-63). SBU would eventually cruise to the 83-73 victory.

SBU spread out the offense with several impressive individual performances. Megan Rosenbohm led SBU in scoring with 20 points and 6 rebounds, while Caylee Richardson (16 points, 14 rebounds) and Morgan Henderson (13 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists) both had double-double's. Off of the bench Madison Strong gave SBU 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. As a team SBU shot 38.9% from the field, 45.0% from beyond the arc, and 94.7% from the line.

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, November 14 when they host Drury in the annual Bank of Bolivar Highway 13 Catfight. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
