Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team finished the 2017 season with a 3-2 loss to Northeastern State on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats were the first to strike in only the 8th minute of play when
Averi Walker sent a corner kick into the box where
Tessa Wagner headed in the first goal of the game to put SBU on top 1-0. NSU answered back in the 22nd minute to tie the game at 1-1, but the Bearcats re-took the lead only minutes later. In the 25th minute of play Raigan Edwards received a pass from
Ashley McClendon where she deposited it into the back of the net to give SBU a 2-1 lead. However, NSU would score two second half goals, including one in the final two minutes of play, as the Bearcats fell 3-2.
SBU finishes the 2017 season 3-13-2 (1-9-1 MIAA).
