Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team received two goals from
Daniel Santibanez in a 3-2 loss to Delta State on Thursday evening. With the loss the Bearcats drop to 1-14 on the season.
The Bearcats kicked off the scoring in the 25th minute of play when
John Clerveau sent a long pass the length of the field where Santibanez handled it, beat the keeper, and put the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead. SBU would hold strong for the remainder of the half, taking a 1-0 lead into the break. In the second half DSU added three goals before the Bearcats would strike again in the 82nd minute of play.
Jack McLauchlan sent a ball into the box where Santibanez split the defenders with a shot that found the back of the net and cut the deficit to 3-2. However, SBU was unable to score another goal in the match as they fell 3-2.
SBU will return to action on Friday, November 3 when they travel to Lindenwood. Play is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
