Stanley's Goal Lifts Women's Soccer to 1-0 Victory over Lindenwood

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up their first conference victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Lindenwood on Saturday. With the victory the Bearcats improve to 3-10-2 (1-6-1 MIAA) on the season.

The Lions and Bearcats were stuck in a defensive battle, as the two teams went into the break tied 0-0. In the 74th minute of action Raegan Edwards sent a pass into the box, which a LWU deflected, but Brianna Stanley found the loose ball and put it into the back of the net to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. The SBU defense continued their strong play, as they finished off the shutout of the Lions with a 1-0 victory. In goal Ashlyn Gibbs earned her second career shutout victory, collecting 6 saves in the win.

SBU will return to action on Sunday, October 22 when they host #1 Central Missouri. Play is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
