SBU Men Continue Road Trip at Fort Hays State on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist closes out a short two-game road trip on Saturday at Fort Hays.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Mark Johnson begins his 16th season as the head coach at Fort Hays State. Johnson holds a career coaching record of 304-138, and ranks among the top 20 in active NCAA Division II men's basketball coaches in winning percentage.

Fort Hays leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 10-8. The Tigers won both meetings last season, picking up an 81-66 victory in Hays.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game at Fort Hays State 8-5 (1-3 MIAA) and are coming off of a 79-65 loss at Nebraska Kearney. SBU is led in scoring by Brian Patterson who averages 12.4 ppg and a team high 6.6 rpg, while Logan Hovey is also averaging double figures at 11.7 ppg. Cartree Pettis leads the Bearcats in assists with 4.1 apg to go along with 8.0 ppg. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with eight players averaging over six points a piece.

Scouting the Tigers
Fort Hays State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 9-4 (3-2 MIAA) on the season. The Tigers are coming off of a 74-73 victory over Central Missouri. FHSU is led in scoring by Rob Davis who averages an MIAA leading 24.2 ppg. Hadley Gillum is also in double figures at 13.4 ppg to go along with 6.5 rpg, while JaQuan Smith pulls down a team high 7.2 rpg.
