SBU Women's Basketball to Host #7 Emporia State for Alumni Day on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist closes out their short homestand on Saturday when they host #7 Emporia State for SBU Alumni Day. At halftime of the men's game, former SBU Women's Basketball players will play a scrimmage as the Bearcats look to start a new tradition on Alumni Day.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.

Jory Collins begins his 6th season as the head coach at Emporia State. Collins holds a career coaching record of 153-42 and has advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 each of the past four seasons.

Emporia State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 37-12. ESU won the last meeting between the two squads last season 82-72.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats enter the game against Emporia State 11-8 (3-7 MIAA) and are coming off of a 62-59 loss to Washburn. SBU is led in scoring by Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 15.6 ppg while Caylee Richardson averages 11.2 ppg, and a team high 7.1 rpg. Alex Botkin dishes out a team high 2.9 apg, while Mackenzie Skupa averages 8.5 ppg and Alyiah Isaac averages 8.2 ppg. As a team SBU shoots 46.6% from the field, 31.6% from beyond the arc, and average 72.6 ppg.

Scouting the Lady Hornets
Emporia State enters the game against Southwest Baptist 16-3 (7-3 MIAA) on the season, and are currently ranked #7 in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll. The Lady Hornets are coming off of a 61-56 overtime loss at Central Missouri. Emporia State is led in scoring and assists by Kelly Moten who averages 19.0 ppg and 4.4 apg. Addie Lackey averages 12.6 ppg, Kyrstie Miller 11.1 ppg, and Kathryn Flott averages 8.5 ppg and 8.7 rpg. As a team ESU shoots 43.5% from the field, 35.9% from beyond the arc, and average 81.3 ppg.
