Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home to face off against Washburn on Thursday as part of a short two-game homestand.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her third season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to their first winning season in 9 years (16-13, 11-11 MIAA) last season. The 11 MIAA wins also marks the second most conference wins in program history. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 27-31, including a 15-26 mark in the MIAA.
Ron McHenry begins his 17th season as the head coach at Washburn. McHenry holds a career coaching record of 389-108 including a 226-76 record in MIAA play.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 37-13. The Bearcats claimed a 65-64 victory the last time these teams met last season in Bolivar.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats enter the game against Washburn 11-7 (3-6 MIAA) and are coming off of a 72-70 loss at Lincoln. SBU is led in scoring by
Megan Rosenbohm who is averaging 15.8 ppg while
Caylee Richardson averages 11.5 ppg, and a team high 7.1 rpg.
Alex Botkin dishes out a team high 2.9 apg, while
Mackenzie Skupa averages 8.2 ppg and Alyiah Isaac averages 8.1 ppg. As a team SBU shoots 47.1% from the field, 32.1% from beyond the arc, and average 73.3 ppg.
Scouting the Ichabods
Washburn enters the game against Southwest Baptist 12-6 (5-4 MIAA) on the season, and are coming off of a 81-54 loss to Pittsburg State. Washburn is led in scoring and rebounding by Alyxis Bowens who averages 11.2 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Jharian Bowen averages 10.7 ppg, Erika Lane 10.6 ppg, and Reagan Phelan 9.4 ppg. As a team Washburn shoots 43.6% from the field, 31.5% from beyond the arc, and average 67.3 ppg.
