The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his third season on the SBU bench after compiling a 21-36 (11-30 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 203-137 across eleven seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Bob Chipman begins his 38th and final season as the head coach at Washburn. Chipman holds a career coaching record of 788-343, and ranks 17th on the all-time wins list at any NCAA level.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 35-17. The Bearcats claimed a 104-98 triple overtime victory in their most recent meeting, last season in Bolivar.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats come into the game against Washburn 10-8 (3-6 MIAA) and are coming off of an 85-73 loss at Lincoln. SBU is led in scoring by
Logan Hovey who is averaging 12.1 ppg, while
Brian Patterson averages 10.6 ppg and a team high 6.1 rpg.
Cartree Pettis leads the Bearcats in assists with 3.4 apg to go along with 7.2 ppg. SBU presents a balanced scoring attack with six players averaging over seven points a piece. SBU shoots 46.7% from the field, 35.9% from beyond the arc, and averages 74.3 ppg.

Washburn comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 13-5 (5-4 MIAA) and are coming off of a 82-64 victory over Pittsburg State. Washburn is led in scoring and rebounding by Brady Skeens who averages a double-double on the season at 13.6 ppg and 10.6 rpg while shooting 69.8% from the field. Cameron Wiggins averages 12.8 ppg while Javion Blake averages 11.9 ppg. As a team Washburn shoots 50.6% from the field, 38.9% from beyond the arc, and average 80.9 ppg.
