Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University's League of Legends Bearcats defeated the Minnesota State Mavericks 2-0 on Saturday, January 14.
SBU's varsity team saw higher team performance, and achieved a solid victory against MNSU, after switching
Sean Bates' (Bouse Ranger) and
Michael Morley's (PunGuy) roles. Bates is now playing in the top-lane with Morley taking on the support role in bottom-lane.
Mitchell Northern (TimeRuptured), SBU's sub for mid-lane and bottom-lane, commentated the game for the team's broadcast on

Game 1 opened with dominant play from SBU with a 7-2 kill lead at 13 minutes. Captain
Shane Roberts (BaconOP) led the team's play with the most damage dealt and a perfect game without a death. Shot-caller
Steven Verlautz (Foolishkings) overran MNSU's Marvin Breuer in mid-lane, leading to a team high 10 kills. The Bearcats destroyed the Mavericks' base in the 32
nd minute with scores of 28-11 kills, 53-23 assists, and 63k-40k gold.
Game 2 was a highlight of the SBU season with 4 of the 5 Bearcats achieving perfect games. Jungler
Joseph Reyes (LordVadarem) and Verlautz (Foolishkings) each finished the game with 7 kills. SBU finished game 2 in an identical 32
nd minute with leads in kills 18-3, assists 29-2, and a superior 19,000 gold lead.
SBU advances to a record of 5-3 on their inaugural season and will face off against Lehigh University at 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, January 21
st.
