Fayette, Iowa - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team hung with Upper Iowa, an NCAA Tournament team a season ago, on Friday afternoon but fell 2-0 in the contest. With the loss SBU drops to 0-8-1 (0-1 MIAA) on the season.
Upper Iowa opened up the scoring in the 33rd minute, as the Bearcats went into the half trailing 1-0. UIU added another goal in the 56th minute, and despite the 11 shot attempts by the Bearcats, SBU would fall 2-0 in the game.
Ben Newell led the Bearcats with 4 shot attempts, while
Garrett Gibson had 3 attempts. In goal
Lajos Zadravecz collected 7 saves in the loss.
The Bearcats will continue their road trip on Sunday, September 25 when they travel to #24 Lindenwood. Play is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
