SBU Football Hits the Road on Saturday to Take on Unbeaten Quincy

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team will hit the road on Saturday to take on Quincy as both teams look to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
Robert Clardy will begin his second season as the head coach on the Bearcat bench. Coach Clardy has spent the last eight seasons on the coaching staff at Southwest Baptist University, serving many roles during his tenure including Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach, and Wide Receivers Coach. Coach Clardy has produced three All-American's, most recently Antion McBee off of last year's squad, while seeing his athletes break numerous SBU, GLVC, and NCAA records.

Tom Pajic is in his 5th season as the head coach for Quincy. Pajic holds a career coaching record of 14-29 after spending the previous eight seasons 

Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Quincy 3-1. SBU claimed a 56-33 victory over Quincy last season in Bolivar.

Scouting Quincy
Quincy comes into the game against Southwest Baptist 3-0 (1-0 GLVC) on the season after defeating Lincoln 40-14 in their GLVC opener. The Hawks have also taken down NCAA Division I Drake 38-35 earlier this season. The Hawks are led offensively by Jaylan James who averages 139.33 rushing yards/game, while in the air Robbie Kelley averages 234.00 yards/game. Eric Poindexter is Kelley's top target, hauling in 4 touchdowns and 86.67 yards/game. Defensively Cody Leonard has collected 23 tackles, including 9.5 for a loss, as well as 2.0 sacks and 1 interception which are all team highs.

Southwest Baptist comes into the game against Quincy 3-0 (1-0 GLVC) after defeating Indianapolis 41-37 last week. The Bearcats received 7 votes in the most recent AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, receiving votes for only the fourth time in program history. Offensively, the Bearcats are led by Bubba Jenkins who is averaging 148.7 rushing yards/game, while TJ Edwards is averaging 287.3 yards/game through the air and 61.0 yards/game on the ground. Cassian Foreman (108.0 yards/game) and Kendrick Payne (80.0 yards/game) are the top targets in the passing attack.
