Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team fell to Maryville on Tuesday afternoon 3-0. With the loss SBU drops to 0-7-1 on the season.
After over 30 minutes of scoreless action, the Bulldogs struck first in the 33rd minute of play, taking a 1-0 lead. MU would extend their lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick in the 40th minute as SBU went into the break trailing 2-0. Maryville would add a second half goal, as the Bearcats would go on to fall 3-0 to the Bulldogs.
Andres Melendez had a team high 4 shot attempts, while
Garrett Gibson and
Ben Newell each had 3 shot attempts a piece. In goal
Lajos Zadravecz picked up a pair of saves in the loss.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, September 23 when they travel to Upper Iowa to open up MIAA play. Play is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from Fayette, Iowa.
