SBU Men's Soccer Comes up Just Short in 3-2 Loss to Truman State

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team fell against Truman State on Tuesday afternoon 3-2. With the loss, SBU drops to 0-5 on the season.

The Bearcats were the first to strike in the opening period. Gabriel Gaviolli headed in a 12-yard out cross from Jesus Lopez to give SBU the early 1-0 lead. SBU would hold steady for the remainder of the half, taking the 1-0 lead into the break. In the second period TSU quickly scored within the first two minutes of play, tying the game at 1-1, before the Bearcats re-took the lead 40 seconds later. Garrett Gibson beat the defender down the left side, crossed to the middle of the box where Emmanuel Poblano knocked it in to give the Bearcats the 2-1 lead. However, TSU would score goals in the 67th and 73rd minutes as SBU would eventually fall 3-2.

SBU will hit the road on Thursday, September 15 when they travel to Hannibal LaGrange. Play is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Hannibal, Missouri.
