Bolivar, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team earned a split in the final day of the SBU Invitational, defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 3-0 before falling to Harding 3-0. At the conclusion of the tournament SBU now stands at 2-6 on the season.
The Bearcats started the day off with a 3-0 sweep over Oklahoma Panhandle State, taking set one 25-16, set two 25-13, and set three 25-17.
Serena Mar collected her 4th double-double in the last five games, picking up a team high 15 assists to go along with 14 digs.
Dana Neal had a team high 10 kills, followed closely by
Katie Robinson with 9, while
Bailey Baumann had a team high 15 digs. As a team the Bearcats hit .337, including an impressive .591 in the second set, in the win.
In the second match of the day the Bearcats fell to Harding 3-0. SBU dropped the first set 25-22, the second 25-14, and the final set 25-13. Baumann led SBU with a team high 14 digs, while Mar had 12 digs and 9 assists, and Neal chipped in with 7 kills.
SBU will return to action on Friday, September 16 for the GAC/MIAA Crossover. The Bearcats will take on Southwestern Oklahoma State at 10:00 a.m. followed by Southeastern Oklahoma State at 4:00 p.m. from Edmond, Oklahoma.
