Denver, Colo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team fell in the NCAA Quarterfinals to #2 Saint Leo on Thursday morning 5-1. With the loss SBU concludes their 2016 season with a 25-4 record, tying the most single season wins in program history.

Lara Soares picked up a 9-8 victory at no. 1 doubles, but SBU fell at no. 2, 8-6, and at no. 3, 9-7. In singles play, Saint Leo took no. 4, no. 5, and no. 6 in straight sets as the Bearcats would fall 5-1. At no. 2 singles,
Maria Josie Zehnder was leading 6-4, 5-3 over the #10 ranked player in the NCAA before the match ended, while Soares was entering the third set after splitting the first two. In no. 1 singles, Zentai fell in the first set 7-6, but was leading the second set 3-0.
