Box Score 2 Photo GalleryBolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball taem fell in a double-header against Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon 8-4 and 14-5. At the conclusion of the day, SBU now stands at 15-29 (7-13 MIAA) on the season.
In game one the Bronchos jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first two innings of play. The Bearcats got one run back in the bottom of the third off of a UCO error, but Central Oklahoma added single runs in the fourth and fifth as SBU trailed 5-1 heading into the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth the Bearcats went to work.
Dana Graves led the inning off with a double, and after a pop out
Caitlyn Cooner hit an rbi single up the middle as SBU trailed 5-2. Back-to-back doubles by
Lyndie Routh and
Yezzania Gonzalez pulled the Bearcats within one at 5-4 heading to the seventh. However, UCO added three runs in the top half of the inning as the Bearcats would fall 8-4 in game one.
In game two the Bearcats were the first to score after a pair of scoreless innings. In the bottom of the third
Catlin Evans was hit by a pitch with one out, and came home on the following batter when
Kaley Hansen hit a two-run homerun to left center to give SBU a 2-0 lead. Graves then singled, followed by a
Stef Lischke walk, before Cooner hit a three-run homerun to left center to put the Bearcats on top 5-0. However, UCO would put up seven runs in the fifth and seventh as SBU would eventually fall 14-5.
SBU will return to action on Saturday, April 9 when they host Northeastern State. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
