Caitlyn Cooner hit two homeruns for Southwest Baptist as they successfully eliminated #2 seed Northwest Missouri with a 3-1 victory on Friday morning at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City. With the win SBU improves to 24-34 on the season.
After two scoreless innings to open up the game, Northwest Missouri struck first in the top of the third as Southwest Baptist trailed 1-0 after three. In the bottom of the fourth with one out
Dana Graves singled to right center before Cooner hit a two-run homerun to left field to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead. Southwest Baptist added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth when Cooner hit her second homerun of the game, a solo shot to center field, as SBU took a 3-1 lead.
Kacey Ayers finished off the complete game victory to help advance SBU to the fourth round.
Southwest Baptist will now take on #4 seed Pittsburg State in SBU's fourth game of the MIAA Tournament. Opening pitch is set for 1:50 p.m. from Field 4 at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
