Topeka, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University men's tennis team was named MIAA Co-Champions despite a 6-3 loss at Washburn on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats conclude the regular season with a 12-6 (4-1 MIAA) record on the season.
The Bearcats trailed the Ichabods 2-1 after doubles play, with the doubles team of
Raul Cabalero and
Omar Diab picking up an 8-5 victory at number three doubles. In singles play
Sherif Abohabaga won at number one singles in straight sets, while Cabalero won in straight sets at number five singles. However, the Bearcat would end up falling 6-3 to #25 Washburn.
SBU will be back in action on Saturday, April 30 in a re-match of Washburn in the MIAA Tournament from Springfield, Missouri.
