Binger Collects Three Hits in 13-2 Loss Against Pittsburg State

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell at the hands of Pittsburg State 13-2 on Thursday afternoon in Bolivar. With the loss, SBU drops to 17-23 (12-18 MIAA) on the season.

Pittsburg State jumped out to an quick 3-0 lead on three unearned runs after an inning, as SBU trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth. In the bottom half of the fourth Sean Murley led the inning off with a double down the left field line and came home three batters later on a Pitt State error as SBU trailed 5-1. PSU would score six runs over the next three innings as SBU trailed 11-1 heading into the bottom half of the seventh.

In the bottom half of the seventh Chance Wolfe led the inning off with a walk, followed two batters later by a pinch hit single from Cody Massey to put runners on first and second. With two outs in the inning, Christian Binger singled through the right side for his third hit on the day, scoring Wolfe, as SBU trailed 11-2. However, Pittsburg State would plate two runs in the top of the eighth as SBU would fall 13-2 in eight innings.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, April 22 when they host Pittsburg State. Opening pitch for game two of the three-game series is set for 3:00 p.m. from Dodson Field.
