Box Score Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell on the road at #13 Missouri Southern on Saturday 12-2. With the loss, SBU fell to 15-14 (11-10 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead.
Caleb Sneed led the game off with a single to center field, followed by a
Christian Binger single to left center. After a groundout, a sacrifice fly by
Carter Sherban brought home Sneed as SBU took a 1-0 lead. However, Missouri Southern would answer with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, and eight more over the next five innings as SBU trailed 10-1 heading into the seventh.
SBU got one run back in the seventh when Sneed singled home
Trevor Bowling as SBU trailed 10-2. Missouri Southern came back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning as SBU fell 12-2 in a run-rule shortened game.
The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, April 3 for the final game of the three game series at #13 Missouri Southern. Opening pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Joplin, Missouri.
