Box Score 2 Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a non-conference double-header at Central Missouri on Tuesday 2-1 and 8-1. At the conclusion of the day, SBU now stands at 18-32 on the season.
In game one the Bearcats are Jennies were scoreless through the first three innings of play before UCM broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs. After a scoreless fifth, the Bearcats cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth. With one out in the sixth,
Kaley Hansen doubled to right center and moved over to third off of a
Dana Graves single down the left field line.
Caitlyn Cooner then hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield as SBU trailed 2-1. With the Bearcats threatening in the top of the seventh, SBU was thrown out at the plate to end the game as the Bearcats fell 2-1.
In game two Central Missouri jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings of play. In the top of the fourth Hansen reached on an error and two batters later came home on an rbi single from
Caitlyn Cooner as the Bearcats trailed 3-1. However, SBU was unable to score another run on the day as they would eventually fall 8-1.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, April 22 when they travel to Lindenwood. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 2:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
