Box Score

St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in a close contest to close out the series against Lindenwood, 6-5. With the loss, SBU drops to 13-13 (8-8 MIAA) on the season.

Lindenwood jumped on the board early, plating five runs across the first two innings of play. The next three innings would be scoreless for both clubs before the Bearcats broke onto the scoreboard in the top of the sixth. Sean Murley was hit by a pitch to lead the inning off, and a Chance Wolfe walk and a Lindenwood error loaded the bases with one out. Hunter Hisky then hit an rbi single, followed by an rbi fielder's choice by Trevor Bowling as SBU trailed 5-2. The Bearcats took advantage of the second error of the inning by Lindenwood, scoring another run, before Caleb Sneed hit an rbi single to pull SBU within one at 5-4.

The Lions got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, taking a 6-4 lead, before the Bearcats threatened in the top of the ninth. Cody Massey led the inning off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved over to third after back-to-back groundouts. Murley then hit an rbi single to score Massey, but it wasn't enough as SBU fell 6-5.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, March 29 when they travel to Lincoln for a mid-week MIAA contest. Play is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Jefferson City, Missouri.
