Box Score 2 Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a pair of MIAA games against Central Missouri on Saturday, 3-1 & 5-0. At the conclusion of the day, SBU now stands at 13-23 (5-7 MIAA) on the season.
In the first game of the day, the Jennies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with agressive base running as SBU gunned down a runner attempting to steal second, but UCM sent the runner home from third to take the 1-0 lead. The Bearcats responded in the bottom half of the inning when
Rachel Ray drew a one out walk, stole second, and came home on a single from
Dana Graves to tie the game at 1-1. However, SBU was unable to plate another run as they would eventually fall 3-1 in the first game of the day. In the circle
Kacey Ayers threw a strong game, going 7.0 innings while picking up four strikeouts in the loss. In game two the Bearcats were unable to get on the scoreboard as they fell 5-0 despite a pair of hits and a walk from Ray.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 29 when they host Pittsburg State. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
