St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team put up 11 runs over the final four innings to come away with a big 13-10 road victory over Lindenwood. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 13-12 (8-7 MIAA) on the season.

Lindenwood jumped ahead early, taking a 1-0 lead off of an SBU error in the bottom of the first. The Lions tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third, taking a 3-0 lead, before the Bearcats responded in the top of the fourth. Carter Sherban led the inning off with a single, followed by a LWU error, and a Jeff Bouchard walk to load the bases with no outs. Hunter Hisky then hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Sherban, and after a double steal by Chance Wolfe and Bouchard, Wolfe came home on an rbi groundout by Trevor Bowling as the Bearcats trailed 3-2 after four innings of play.

After the Bearcats were held scoreless in the top of the fifth, Lindenwood put up four runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead to 7-2. However, SBU responded in the following inning to take their first lead of the day. Bouchard led the inning off with a single, and two batters later Bowling reached on a walk. A double steal by Bouchard and Bowling forced a LWU error, as Bouchard came home to put SBU down 7-3. After a Massey walk put runners on the corners, Christian Binger hit a bases clearing two-rbi triple to cut the deficit to two at 7-5. Sean Murley then drew a two out walk, once again putting runners on the corners, before an rbi single by Sherban pulled SBU within one at 7-6. Wolfe then followed up with an rbi single, capped off with an rbi double from Bouchard as the Bearcats took an 8-7 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning. However, Lindenwood would quickly re-take the lead, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the frame as the Bearcats trailed 10-8.

Those would be the last runs the Lions would score on the day, as the Bearcats started to mount a comeback in the top of the eighth. Sherban led the inning off with a double, advanced to third on a flyout, and came home on a Bouchard rbi single to pull SBU back within one at 10-9. After a Hisky walk, a groundout moved the runners up to second and third. Cody Massey drew a two-out walk, loading the bases, and the tying run came home on a Lindenwood wild pitch. Caleb Sneed then hit an rbi single, giving the Bearcats an 11-10 lead. Sherban then came in to pitch, registering a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth as SBU came back up to bat in the ninth with the lead.

After two quick outs Bouchard continued his strong day with a triple, and came home on Hisky's rbi double. Bowling then hit an rbi single, extending the SBU lead to 13-10. Sherban came out in the bottom of the ninth, collecting three outs to earn his first save of the season on his first pitching appearance of the year. Calvin Lovig picked up the victory after pitching 1.2 innings in relief.

The Bearcats will close out their series at Lindenwood on Saturday, March 26. Opening pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
