Bolivar, Mo. - Sophomore third baseman Caleb Sneed hit the first cycle in program history as the SBU Baseball team picked up a 25-9 MIAA contest against Lincoln on Tuesday afternoon. After the win, SBU improves to 12-11 (8-7 MIAA) on the season.

Caleb Sneed becomes just the 11th player in SBU history to also record five hits in a single game, becomes only the third player to score five runs in a single game, while his 11 total bases ties him for fourth all-time in a single game. Carter Sherban's two homeruns tie him for third all-time in a single game, and Hunter Hisky's four runs scored ties him for fourth all-time in a single game.

The Bearcats started the scoring off in the top of the first inning as Sneed led the inning off with a single up the middle, followed by a Christian Binger homerun to right field as SBU took a 2-0 lead. After the Bearcats loaded the bases on a single and a pair of walks, Trevor Bowling drew a bases loaded walk to take a 3-0 lead. Cody Massey then hit a two-rbi single to left center, followed by an rbi single by Sneed to extend the SBU lead to 6-0. With runners on the corners, Binger hit a bases clearing double to left center to give SBU an 8-0 lead after an inning of play. The Blue Tigers got one run back in the top of the second, but a Hunter Hisky rbi single in the bottom half of the inning scored Chance Wolfe as SBU led 9-1 after two innings.

Lincoln responded with six unearned runs in the top half of the third, but the SBU bats continued to control the game. Sneed led the inning off with a double to left field, followed by a double to right field by Binger to put runners on second and third. Murley drew his third walk of the game, followed by a grand slam by Carter Sherban to give SBU a 13-7 lead. After a Wolfe single, Hisky walk, and Bowling walk loaded the bases, Massey drew a walk to push home another run, followed by a sacrifice fly by Sneed to put SBU ahead 15-7. Lincoln responded in the top of the fourth with two unearned runs, as SBU led 15-9 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Bearcats used four homeruns in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to double-digits. Murley led the inning off with a solo homerun down the left field line, followed by a solo homerun from Sherban to left center. After an out, the Bearcats put two runners on base, where Bowling hit a sacrifice fly to center field to give SBU an 18-9 lead. Massey then hit a two-run homerun to right field, followed by a solo homerun to center field by Sneed as SBU led 21-9 after four.

After a scoreless top half of the fifth by Lincoln, the Bearcats came back with three more runs in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs in the inning Jeff Bouchard hit an infield single to short, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and came home on an rbi single from Hisky. Bowling then blasted a two-run homerun to left field to give SBU a 24-9 lead.

Once again the Blue Tigers were scoreless in the top half of the sixth before history was made in the bottom half of the inning. Sneed led the inning off with a triple to center field, which gave him the first cycle in program history. Sneed would come home two batters later on a sacrifice fly to center field by Murley as SBU would eventually go on to claim the 25-9 victory.

The Bearcats will hit the road this weekend when they travel to Lindenwood on Thursday, March 24 to open up a three-game series against the Lions. Opening pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
