Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in two one run games on Wednesday afternoon to Rogers State, 4-3 and 1-0. At the conclusion of the day the Bearcats now stand at 5-11 on the season.

In game one the Bearcats were the first to strike in the bottom of the second. Tyler Hernandez led the inning off with a single that bounced off of the pitcher, and after back-to-back singles from Catlin Evans and Stef Lischke, the Bearcats had the bases loaded with no outs. Stormy Christerson had an rbi groundout to put SBU up 1-0 before back-to-back rbi fielder's choice's from Kori Hillenburg and Kaley Hansen put the Bearcats on top 3-0. However, RSU responded with 4 runs in the top of the fourth as the Bearcats trailed 4-3. From that point forward Kacey Ayers allowed only one baserunner, but SBU was unable to put another run on the board as the Bearcats fell 4-3.

The second game of the day featured a pitcher's dual as SBU starting pitcher Hunter Middleton held a no-hitter through the first 3.1 innings of play. Rogers State manufactured a run in the top of the fifth, taking a 1-0 lead. Middleton would allow only one hit the remainder of the game, and four hits total, but the Bearcats were unable to move a run across the plate as SBU fell 1-0. Middleton had a solid performance in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing only one run on four hits.

SBU will be back in action on Friday, March 4 when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney to open up MIAA play. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 3:00 p.m. from Kearney, Nebraska.
