Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team picked up their second consecutive shutout victory over Northeastern State on Friday afternoon 7-0. With the win, SBU improves to 11-10 (6-5 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats got things going in the bottom half of the first. Caleb Sneed led the inning off with a single up the middle, followed by a Christian Binger sacrifice bunt and a Sean Murley single to left field put runners on the corners with one out. Carter Sherban then hit a two-rbi double to center field, scoring both Sneed and Murley, followed by a Chance Wolfe walk and Jeff Bouchard infield single to load the bases. Trevor Bowling then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, extending the lead to 3-0, before a wild pitch brought home Wolfe as SBU led 4-0 after one inning.

SBU continued their offensive push in the second inning, and back-to-back one out singles by Sneed and Binger forced the RiverHawks into a pitching change. Murley then hit an rbi single up the middle, scoring Sneed, and a passed ball brought home Binger to give SBU a 6-0 lead. After a scoreless third and fourth innings, the Bearcats added another run in the fifth off of a pair of errors by NSU to take a 7-0 lead.

Brandon Chernoff gave SBU 7.0 innings allowing only 3 hits, all singles, while also striking out four to pick up the victory. In relief Brian Womack pitched a perfect two innings picking up three strikeouts to seal the 7-0 SBU victory.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, March 19 as SBU looks to complete the sweep over Northeastern State. Opening pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
