Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will continue their three-game road trip when they travel to Fort Hays State on Saturday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his second season on the SBU bench after coming off of a 11-18 (6-13 MIAA) record last season. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 193-119 across ten seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Mark Johnson begins his 15th season as the head coach at Fort Hays State. Johnson holds a career coaching record of 284-127 and is the all-time coaching wins leader in FHSU history.
Fort Hays State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 9-8. The Tigers claimed an 83-66 victory earlier this season in Bolivar.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of an 85-64 road loss to Nebraska-Kearney, and are now 9-12 (4-11 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by
Logan Hovey who averages 14.1 ppg and 7.4 rpg, while
Brian Patterson averages 12.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg.
Cartier Dean averages 8.1 ppg, while
Kai Woodfall 7.5 ppg, and
Kalehl Brown averages 7.3 ppg.
Scouting the TigersFort Hays enters the contest against Southwest Baptist 14-7 (8-7 MIAA) on the season. The Tigers are coming off of a 81-54 victory over Central Missouri after dropping their previous three contests. FHSU is led in scoring by Rob Davis who averages 17.4 ppg. Dom Samac averages 14.9 ppg and a team high 7.5 rpg, while Craig Nicholson (10.6 ppg) and Jake Stoppel (10.2 ppg) both average double-figures.
