Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist earned the #9 seed in the MIAA Women's Basketball Postseason Tournament and will travel to #8 seed Nebraska-Kearney on Monday night for the first round.
The Coaches & the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer is in her second season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU to a 9-18 (4-15 MIAA) record last season. Coach Keizer had spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.
Carrie Hofstetter is in her 1st season as the head coach at Nebraska-Kearney. Hofstetter comes to Nebraska-Kearney after serving as the head coach at Hastings College the past three seasons, holding a coaching record of 68-31.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Nebraska-Kearney 3-2. The Lopers have claimed both meetings this season, 89-75 in Bolivar and 64-52 in Kearney.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist is coming off of a 57-49 road victory over Northwest Missouri to close out the regular season and are now 16-12 (11-11 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Caylee Richardson who averages 13.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg while shooting an MIAA leading 59.4% from the floor, while
Megan Rosenbohm averages 10.7 ppg off of the bench.
Dilonna Johnson averages 10.4 ppg and a team high 4.1 apg, while
Mackenzie Skupa is averaging 7.1 ppg and
Sarah Magana is averaging 3.6 apg.
Scouting the LopersNebraska-Kearney enters the MIAA Tournament as the #8 seed and finished the regular season with a 15-13 (11-11 MIAA) record on the season. The Lopers are coming off of 51-43 victory at Northeastern State. UNK is led in scoring by Laramey Becker who averages 16.8 ppg and a team high 5.4 rpg. McKenzie Brown averages just under double-figures at 9.9 ppg.
