Edmond, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell on the road at Central Oklahoma on Saturday 15-9. With the loss, SBU falls to 4-5 (0-2 MIAA) on the season.

The Bronchos were the first to strike in the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs and taking a 3-0 lead. The Bearcats answered back in the top of the second with three runs of their own to tie the game at 3-3. Jeff Bouchard led the inning off by reaching on an error, and after moving up on another UCO error Cody Massey drew a walk to put runners on the corners with one out. Trevor Bowling then doubled to left field, bringing home Bouchard, and Carter Sherban follwed up with another double to score Massey and Bowling and tie the game at 3-3.

However, UCO answered back with five runs over the next two inning, taking an 8-3 lead heading into the top of the fourth. The Bearcats once again got three runs back in the top of the fourth. Chance Wolfe led the inning off with a single to left field, and after Massey reached on an error, Sherban was hit two batters later to load the bases. Hunter Hisky drew a bases loaded walk, cutting the deficit to 8-4, before an rbi single from Caleb Sneed and an rbi groundout from Christian Binger brought SBU within two at 8-6.

UCO once again responded, scoring six runs over the next two innings as SBU trailed 14-6. The Bearcats got one run back in the top of the seventh when Sean Murley scored on a UCO error, but the Bronchos added another run in the bottom half of the inning as SBU trailed 15-7 heading into the top of the ninth.

In the ninth inning SBU started to rally, as Murley doubled to put runners on second and third with one out. Bouchard then singled up the middle, scoring Sneed and Murley, but it wasn't enough as SBU fell 15-9.

The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, February 28 when close out their series at Central Oklahoma. Opening pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. from Edmond, Oklahoma.
