Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team will open up MIAA this weekend when they travel to Edmond, Oklahoma to take on Central Oklahoma in a three-game series. Game one is set for Friday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday and a 12:00 p.m. start on Sunday. Last season the Bearcats took three of four from the Bronchos in Edmond.
Scouting the BearcatsSBU is led offensviely by
Jeff Bouchard who is hitting .542 on the season, which ranks 2nd in the MIAA, and also leads the Bearcats with six extra base hits.
Sean Murley ranks 14th in the MIAA with a .444 batting average, while
Christian Binger has a team high 9 rbi to rank 18th in the MIAA. Also batting over .300 this season are
Cody Massey (.389),
Chance Wolfe (.368), and
Blake Hobbs (.300). On the mound
Brandon Chernoff holds a 3.60 ERA while holding opponents to a .184 batting average.
Scouting the BronchosLandon Eason leads the UCO offensive attack with a team high .429 batting average, while Isaac Hellbusch and Hunter Schellhardt are both hitting .333 on the season. As a team UCO holds a team batting average of .250 which ranks 11th in the MIAA. The Bronchos have to starting pitchers with ERA's under 1.00 in Daulton Leiker (0.84 ERA) and Greg Hyde (0.00 ERA).
